About Nest Veterinary

At Nest Veterinary our mission is to make pet care accessible to every parent. We provide technology solutions that increase compliance and access to wellness care for pets, helping ensure more animals receive the preventive care they need when they need it.

We are transforming veterinary care by delivering thoughtful, design-forward, and tech-enabled experiences for pets and their parents.

Role

We’re looking for a visionary and hands-on Director of Engineering to lead Nest Veterinary’s rapidly growing engineering team. You’ll define and scale our engineering organization, build products that power our modern care model, and partner cross-functionally with operations, product, and clinical leadership to develop and execute our technology roadmap.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-autonomy environments, loves innovation, and is passionate about making a tangible difference in the veterinary space.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy

    • Define the long-term engineering strategy and align it with Nest's clinical and operational goals.
    • Serve as a technical thought leader, building strong relationships across design, operations, product, and veterinary leadership.
    • Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing engineering team.
    • Champion a culture of innovation, execution, and continuous learning.

  • Technology & Product Execution

    • Architect scalable systems and tools that improve veterinary workflows, client experience, and medical operations.
    • Build technology that enhances compliance and facilitates access to routine and preventive wellness care.
    • Oversee full product development lifecycle from collaborating with product on ideation to overseeing deployment.
    • Own vendor selection and integration for core tech infrastructure.
    • Establish and enforce engineering best practices and code quality standards.

  • Growth & Scale

    • Lead technical due diligence for future M&A or integration activities.
    • Build frameworks for rapidly scaling our technology across multiple veterinary locations and use cases.
    • Monitor, evaluate, and optimize engineering KPIs as we grow.

Qualifications

  • Experienced Leader: 8+ years in engineering roles with at least 3 years in leadership at a fast-growing technology startup.
  • Builder: You’ve shipped complex systems or platforms in zero-to-one environments in B2B SaaS.
  • Cross-Functional Partner: You speak the language of product managers, designers, and operators and know how to turn insights into code.
  • Team Developer: Proven ability to recruit, grow, and retain diverse and inclusive engineering teams.
  • Hands-On Strategist: Willing to dive into code when needed, but also see the big picture and roadmap ahead.

Why Join Nest?

  • Mission-Driven: Join a team redefining how care is delivered and experienced in veterinary medicine.
  • Startup Energy: You'll help shape the future of our technology from the ground up with high visibility and real ownership.
  • People-First: We prioritize empathy, collaboration, and curiosity in our work and in our culture.
  • Real Impact: Every feature you build directly helps pets receive the care they need and supports the teams who care for them.
